A teenager drove his family's manual-transmission Jeep Wrangler but never shifted out of first gear the entire time, causing severe engine knocking. In a video, mechanic Aaron revealed that the parents brought the vehicle in complaining of unusual noises. Upon inspection, they discovered their child mistakenly believed the car "only had one forward gear." The teen would simply press the clutch to start moving and then floor the accelerator, forcing the engine to operate under high load for an extended period. Although Jeep’s four-cylinder engine is famously robust and didn’t suffer a catastrophic failure, it still ultimately required a full replacement. The mechanic also replaced the non-standard, pool-ball-shaped gear knob originally installed in the vehicle and reminded viewers: “Remember to use all the gears!” Online commenters debated who was at fault—some argued parents should have taught their child proper manual transmission operation, while others joked, “A manual transmission is the best anti-theft system.”
