A Georgia Toyota Tundra owner, Michael O., recently exposed on social media that when purchasing his vehicle from Rivertown Toyota, he paid $4,600 for the XP Carbon blacked-out package, which included exclusive black wheels. However, upon taking delivery of the vehicle, he discovered that the wheels were covered with plastic gunmetal-gray wheel covers, ruining the intended all-black appearance. Following the salesperson’s advice, he attempted to remove them himself—only to find the process extremely laborious and time-consuming. The covers were firmly glued in place with strong adhesive and foam seals, causing scratches to the factory wheel paint and leaving behind significant glue residue during removal. To make matters worse, the center caps on the wheel covers did not align properly with the original wheels. When Michael returned to the dealership requesting the correct wheels he had paid for, they demanded he pay for eight hours of labor before they would address the issue. Frustrated, Michael ultimately chose to replace the wheels at his own expense. This incident serves as another reminder to consumers: always verify that your vehicle’s configuration matches the contract before taking delivery, and avoid falling into the “take delivery first, install later” trap.
