On March 9, Lei Jun, a National People's Congress deputy and founder of Xiaomi Group, stated in an interview that Xiaomi has made significant investments in advanced driver-assistance systems and will soon launch Level 3 and Level 4 high-level autonomous driving features, with small-scale pilot programs expected to begin in the next one or two years. He reiterated that current intelligent driving technologies remain assistive in nature, emphasizing that drivers must stay fully attentive at all times and should not overly rely on these systems. Lei had previously reminded users on multiple occasions that the driver remains ultimately responsible for driving safety.
