At a recent earnings briefing, Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL) responded to Zimbabwe's policy restricting exports of raw lithium ore, stating that the move may aim to promote local industrialization of the lithium supply chain. Currently, relevant mining companies are accelerating lithium production capacity development in Zimbabwe, with a relatively short construction timeline expected, and product exports are anticipated to gradually resume thereafter. CATL noted that global lithium supply primarily comes from Australia, South America, China, and other regions, and thus Zimbabwe’s export restrictions would have limited impact on overall supply and demand. Thanks to its well-established supply chain network, CATL believes that temporary fluctuations in raw material prices and policy changes in any single region will not significantly affect its overall operations.
