According to data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), China's auto sales in February 2026 totaled 1.805 million units, down 15.2% year-on-year and 23.1% month-on-month. Market activity weakened due to factors including an extended Spring Festival holiday and only 16 effective working days during the month. Total sales for January–February reached 4.152 million units, a year-on-year decline of 8.8%. Domestic sales in February stood at 1.133 million units, plunging 32.9% year-on-year. Sales of conventional fuel-powered vehicles domestically dropped 29.9% year-on-year to 650,000 units. However, auto exports remained strong: February exports surged 52.4% year-on-year to 672,000 units, bringing cumulative January–February exports to 1.352 million units, up 48.4% year-on-year. Passenger vehicle sales in February totaled 1.536 million units, down 15.4% year-on-year. Chinese-brand passenger vehicles captured a market share of 70.2%, slightly lower than the same period last year. Meanwhile, the commercial vehicle segment continued its positive trend.
