The BAIC Arcfox Alpha S (L3 version) has officially commenced on-road trial operations, becoming one of China's first L3-level autonomous driving vehicles approved for public roads. Equipped with three LiDAR units and a total of 34 sensors, the vehicle supports 360-degree omnidirectional perception and legally permits hands-off driving at speeds up to 80 km/h. During a recent half-month real-world test, its autonomous driving mileage exceeded 10,000 kilometers. The model features Huawei’s Qiankun ADS intelligent driving system and is currently the only L3 vehicle equipped with triple LiDARs. BAIC Arcfox announced that users can begin reserving test drives for the L3 autonomous driving feature starting in Q2 of this year. Previously, Beijing issued the first batch of dedicated license plates for L3 autonomous vehicles in late last year and launched large-scale pilot operations for this model in January.
