Tesla FSD Hits Railroad Barrier Again; Driver Takes Emergency Control to Avoid Crash

From:Internet Info Agency 2026-03-12 16:43:00

Recently, a Tesla Model 3 owner shared a harrowing video on social media showing their vehicle ignoring lowered railroad crossing gates while operating with Full Self-Driving (FSD) enabled, driving straight through the tracks at 37 km/h. The driver applied emergency braking at the critical moment, but the FSD system still propelled the car through two sets of barriers. Fortunately, no train was passing at the time. This is not the first time FSD has failed at a railroad crossing—similar incidents occurred as early as August last year. Experts suggest that because Tesla does not rely on high-definition maps, the issue may stem from insufficient perception system recognition of the barriers or flawed decision-making. Notably, other autonomous driving systems, including Waymo, have also encountered similar near-misses at railroad crossings, highlighting that such "edge cases" remain a shared industry challenge. Tesla has yet to fully resolve this safety hazard.
