According to a March 12 report by The Wall Street Journal, Tesla is building a dedicated production line for the Cybercab at its Gigafactory in Austin, Texas, with mass production scheduled to begin in April. The Cybercab is a two-seater, fully autonomous vehicle without a steering wheel or pedals, equipped with Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) system and intended for use in Tesla’s Robotaxi ride-hailing network. The factory is currently accelerating hiring and equipment installation, aiming for a weekly production capacity of several hundred units. CEO Elon Musk emphasized that the Cybercab “either drives itself or doesn’t drive at all,” and confirmed the vehicle will be sold directly to consumers at a price expected to be under $30,000, making it one of Tesla’s most affordable models. If production ramps up smoothly, annual output could reach several million units.
