Recently, a traffic accident involving a Tesla Cybertruck and a sedan occurred in Mianyang, Sichuan Province—the first publicly documented collision involving this model in China. In the incident, the Cybertruck sustained partial component detachment and minor deformation at the front end, while the sedan it collided with was pushed into the central roadside green belt, suffering severe damage to its front passenger-side area, including destruction of the hood, headlight, and bumper. Currently, the Tesla Cybertruck has not been officially launched in the Chinese market. All units on Chinese roads have been imported via parallel import channels and individually certified under China Compulsory Certification (3C). The dual-motor version costs over RMB 2 million after importation, while the tri-motor high-performance variant is priced around RMB 2.68 million, with some available units commanding even higher prices due to scarcity. As the Cybertruck is classified as a pickup truck, it is subject to driving restrictions in certain cities and falls under China’s mandatory 15-year vehicle scrappage regulation. Additionally, these imported vehicles do not qualify for Tesla’s official warranty or after-sales service. By comparison, the Cybertruck’s starting price in the U.S. is USD 69,990 (approximately RMB 485,000), making the entry-level landed price in China more than four times higher than in the U.S.
