The 2027 BMW 7 Series receives a mid-cycle refresh featuring subtle exterior updates, a completely redesigned interior, and optimized powertrains. Externally, the updated model debuts a redesigned kidney grille, new headlight units, slightly revised BMW badges, and fresh taillight clusters. The most significant interior upgrade is the integration of BMW’s latest-generation cockpit technology, highlighted by the panoramic Panoramic iDrive system. The dashboard now houses a 17.9-inch central infotainment display, and—for the first time on a BMW—the passenger-side screen comes standard. Production and sales will commence in July 2024, with the U.S. market offering two all-electric variants and two gasoline-powered models. The entry-level rear-wheel-drive 740 is powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine equipped with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and a larger turbocharger. Its maximum output increases from 375 hp to 394 hp, while torque remains at 398 lb-ft. The 740 xDrive accelerates from 0–60 mph in under 5 seconds, with an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph. The all-electric i7 50 xDrive retains its dual-motor layout but now delivers 449 hp, with torque rising from 479 lb-ft to 487 lb-ft. Its 0–60 mph time remains at 5.3 seconds, though top speed increases to 130 mph. The i7 60 xDrive maintains its 536 hp and 549 lb-ft of torque but sees its top speed climb from 130 mph to 149 mph, with a 0–60 mph time of 4.6 seconds. Both i7 models receive a new battery pack with a net capacity of 112.0 kWh, utilizing BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive technology and new cylindrical cells derived from the iX3. Peak charging power rises from 195 kW to 250 kW, reducing the 10%–80% charging time to 28 minutes (down from 34 minutes). The i7 60’s maximum range increases from 311 miles to over 350 miles. The plug-in hybrid 750e xDrive will enter production in Q4 2026 and launch as a 2027 model. It pairs a 3.0-liter inline-six engine producing 308 hp with a 194-hp electric motor for a combined output of 483 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. Its top speed rises to 155 mph, while the 0–60 mph acceleration time matches that of the current model. Pricing starts at $101,350 (including $1,550 destination fee) for the rear-wheel-drive 740—a $500 increase over the 2026 model. The 740 xDrive starts at $104,350; the i7 50 xDrive at $107,750; and the i7 60 xDrive at $126,250. Pricing for the 750e xDrive has not yet been announced, though the 2026 model started at $111,550.
