At the 2026 Beijing International Auto Show, He Xiaopeng, Chairman and CEO of XPeng Group, announced that the company’s split-body flying car, "Land Aircraft Carrier," developed by XPeng AeroHT, has already secured 7,000 pre-orders and is scheduled to begin mass production in 2026. This vehicle marks the world’s first mass-produced split-body flying car, priced under RMB 2 million. It consists of a ground vehicle and a stowable aircraft module. The ground vehicle is a three-axle, six-wheel, all-wheel-drive, full-terrain large SUV equipped with an aviation-grade range extender system. The aircraft module features vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) capability, combining safety for low-altitude commuting with a lightweight design. Also unveiled at the event was XPeng’s humanoid robot, IRON, powered by three self-developed Turing AI chips delivering a total computing power of 2,250 TOPS. It uses a solid-state battery offering 12 hours of runtime and is equipped with a 720° “Eagle Eye” vision system, a human-like spine, biomimetic muscles, and dexterous hands with 22 degrees of freedom. IRON also debuts XPeng’s large physical-world AI model, enabling advanced intelligent capabilities in manipulation, locomotion, and interaction. He Xiaopeng stated that IRON is expected to enter mass production in 2026. Furthermore, XPeng Motors officially rebranded as XPeng Group, signaling its strategic shift toward “AI-defined vehicles.” The company will focus on three physical AI platforms: AI-powered cars, flying cars, and AI robots. At the auto show, XPeng also showcased the new premium paint option for its GX model—“Kunlun Cloudscape”—available as a RMB 10,000 upgrade.
