Aptiv held a press event on the eve of the 2026 Auto Show, announcing a comprehensive upgrade of its China strategy. The company explicitly positioned China as a global hub for innovation and R&D, shifting its strategic focus from “in China, for China” to “in China, for the world.” The new strategy centers on six key pillars: advancing its China strategy, accelerating China-speed development with global synergy, localization and supply chain development, embodied intelligence initiatives, supporting Chinese automakers’ global expansion, and engagement in the low-altitude economy. Aptiv plans to shorten its R&D cycles and achieve a 94% localization rate, building an autonomous and controllable local supply chain. Additionally, the company will leverage its strengths in automotive perception and digital manufacturing to drive the implementation of embodied intelligence technologies. Backed by its global resource network, Aptiv will support Chinese automakers in expanding overseas markets while strengthening global collaboration to meet China’s unique market demands and prevent market fragmentation. Furthermore, the company will continue to significantly increase its R&D investment and manufacturing capacity in China, driving the local supply chain toward higher quality, greater innovation, and stronger intellectual property protection.
