On April 24, 2026, the 19th Beijing International Automotive Exhibition opened, with XPeng Inc. showcasing an array of new vehicles and cutting-edge technologies, including its all-new flagship SUV—the XPeng GX—alongside the 2026 XPeng MONA M03, the refreshed XPeng P7, the 2026 XPeng X9, as well as its humanoid robot IRON and the modular flying car dubbed the “Land Aircraft Carrier.” On the first day of the auto show, XPeng held a press event themed “AI Changes the World,” where it unveiled for the first time its report on the second-generation VLA (Vision-Language-Action) intelligent driving system. According to the report, since its OTA rollout in March 2026, the second-gen VLA has demonstrated stable performance in complex scenarios such as urban streets and rural roads, significantly boosting user engagement: - Among newly delivered Ultra-trim vehicles, 98.52% of owners activated the intelligent driving feature daily during their first week of ownership. - The number of 100% NGP (Navigation Guided Pilot)-enabled trips increased by 115.9% month-over-month, while handover frequency per 100 kilometers dropped by 25.9%. - In narrow, complex road scenarios, handover incidents decreased by 36.28% month-over-month. - Notably, 95.3% of female drivers aged 50 and above have already experienced the system. Market response has been equally strong: - In March, orders for the entire Ultra series surged by 118% month-over-month. - First-time buyers selecting either the Ultra or Ultra SE trims saw transaction volumes rise by 129.3% month-over-month. - From April 1 to 19, XPeng’s total monthly orders grew by 74.4% month-over-month and 56.8% year-over-year. - Trial drives of the second-gen VLA achieved a 98% positive feedback rate, and the average time from test drive to purchase decision shortened by 44.7%. The second-gen VLA system will soon be available across all Ultra and Ultra SE models and will add new capabilities, including campus and parking garage roaming, as well as full-scenario stationary start functionality. As XPeng’s new tech flagship, the GX made its debut at the show with the “Kunlun Cloudscape” dual-tone paint scheme, crafted using a 6C4B process, featuring 15 layers of paint, a 230μm film thickness, and a mirror-like gloss level of 98 GU. Designed primarily for families, the GX offers three rows of power-folding seats, 180° reclining backrests, an antibacterial车载 refrigerator, a top-mounted invisible airflow system, AI-tinting smart glass, and a trunk spacious enough to hold six 24-inch suitcases. In terms of safety, the GX integrates three comprehensive systems—passive, active, and aerospace-grade redundancy: - It completed the industry’s first-ever 720° five-stage consecutive crash test. - It features AEB (Automatic Emergency Braking) capable of full stops up to 150 km/h, AES (Automatic Emergency Steering) that operates up to 130 km/h, and an AES function optimized for icy and snowy roads. - It is equipped with an aerospace-inspired six-layer, full-domain safety redundancy system covering steering, braking, propulsion, communication, power supply, and door unlocking. For range, the GX is offered in both all-electric and super extended-range variants: - The BEV version delivers up to 750 km of CLTC-rated range. - The extended-range model offers 430 km of pure electric range and a combined total range of 1,585 km. On the intelligent driving front, the GX is China’s first fully in-house developed, pre-installed, mass-production-ready Robotaxi prototype vehicle. It is powered by up to four Turing chips, delivering 3,000 TOPS of computing power, and integrates the second-gen VLA system built on an L4-capable architecture. Currently, XPeng GX display vehicles have begun arriving at dealerships nationwide, opening for family-oriented customer previews. XPeng Inc. stated it will continue accelerating the real-world deployment of physical AI technologies and expedite mass production of both the “Land Aircraft Carrier” flying car and the IRON humanoid robot.
