Yu Hao, founder and CEO of Dreame Technology, recently posted on Weibo claiming that only three people in China truly understand automotive design: Lei Jun, founder of Xiaomi Group; Yu Chengdong, Executive Director of Huawei; and himself. He asserted that others fall "far short" in their understanding of car design. The remarks quickly sparked heated online debate, with some netizens criticizing his statement as overly arrogant, while others pointed out that Dreame has yet to launch a mass-produced vehicle, rendering his comments lacking in practical foundation. Yu Hao has drawn public attention multiple times in recent years for his bold statements. In less than two months since the start of 2026, he has posted approximately 300 updates on Weibo, briefly ranking second in influence within China’s tech community—second only to Lei Jun. He has also previously stated on social media that Dreame aims to become “the first hundred-trillion-dollar company ecosystem in human history” and criticized Xiaohongshu (Little Red Book) for having “toxic values and a toxic business model.” On the automotive front, Dreame is accelerating its strategic expansion. From April 27 to 30, 2026, the company hosted a four-day global “DREAME NEXT” launch event in Silicon Valley—the first-ever dedicated product launch week in Silicon Valley led solely by a Chinese tech firm. The event showcased a full-scenario portfolio spanning smart vehicles, smart home appliances, and personal devices, with the most anticipated highlight being the Nebula NEXT 01 Concept JET Edition, a rocket-inspired concept car. Previously addressing rumors about entering the auto industry, Dreame stated it would not enter the market for vehicles priced below RMB 200,000, and that its high-end, self-developed supercar project remains in an early stage. Currently, its subsidiary Star Car exports modified Dongfeng Mengshi SUVs to overseas markets. The company describes its automotive strategy as an “N+1” approach—transferring its extreme engineering capabilities from the home appliance sector into the automotive domain to validate technological feasibility.
