Xiaomi Auto’s first extended-range SUV under development has recently undergone significant changes. Previously, it was widely believed that the vehicle would fall under Xiaomi's main brand and be named “YU9.” However, the latest reports indicate that the model will neither carry the “YU9” name nor feature Xiaomi’s brand logo. According to multiple sources, Xiaomi has registered a new independent sub-brand called “SKYNOMAD,” with the Chinese name “Xun Tian” (Seeking the Sky), dedicated to its extended-range family SUV lineup. Positioned below Xiaomi’s main brand, SKYNOMAD targets the family, long-distance travel, and outdoor adventure markets. The sub-brand’s product roadmap includes three extended-range SUVs codenamed “Kunlun”: Kunlun 10 (compact five-seater), Kunlun 20 (large five-seater), and Kunlun 30 (spacious seven-seater). The first model to launch will be the top-tier “Kunlun N3.” The entire SKYNOMAD lineup will feature extended-range electric powertrains, reportedly equipped with batteries exceeding 70 kWh, delivering an estimated CLTC pure-electric range of around 400 kilometers. The vehicles are expected to exceed 5.2 meters in length, featuring a boxy design, a three-row six-seat layout, and distinctive elements such as LiDAR sensors, teardrop-shaped side mirrors, vertical taillights, and a “Sky-and-Earth” split tailgate. Some spy shots also suggest the vehicle may feature a pop-up roof that, when raised, transforms it into a recreational vehicle (RV). Additionally, another model codenamed “Isle of Man” is reportedly a high-roof outdoor RV positioned above the Kunlun series, also belonging to SKYNOMAD’s premium product line. Xiaomi Technology Co., Ltd. began filing trademark applications for “Xun Tian” across multiple categories—including “vehicles”—as early as April 2023. Online rumors suggest the sub-brand’s models might adopt names like “Xun Tian N90,” with both the rear badge and steering wheel bearing the exclusive SKYNOMAD logo. Although the branding and naming have yet to be officially confirmed, related prototypes have repeatedly appeared in road-test spy photos and may soon enter the MIIT (Ministry of Industry and Information Technology) type-approval process.
