Geely and Ford plan to collaborate on electric vehicles (EVs) in the European market. According to disclosed information, Ford will launch four new all-electric models in Europe between 2027 and 2030, all developed on Geely’s GEA (Global Electric Architecture) intelligent new energy platform, abandoning its own in-house EV platform. Geely will be responsible for overall vehicle development, core component supply chains, quality control systems, and manufacturing standards, while Ford will independently handle exterior and interior design and adapt localized infotainment systems, leveraging its European sales network for final delivery. Additionally, Geely plans to acquire Ford’s plant in Spain to produce its own-brand vehicles as well as contract-manufacture Ford EVs. This move will help Geely reduce upfront investment, accelerate mass production timelines, and avoid potential trade barriers. This collaborative model has already been implemented in Geely’s projects in South Korea and Brazil.
