The United Auto Workers (UAW) announced that over 800 workers at Woodward MPC in Niles, Illinois, have voted to authorize a potential strike. The move stems from allegations that the company has repeatedly refused to engage in collective bargaining for several months and has committed multiple unfair labor practices. According to data, Woodward has generated total profits exceeding $1.7 billion since 2020, while its CEO received $30 million in compensation during the same period. Meanwhile, the company offered workers a wage increase of just $0.13 per hour—far below the union's demands.
