BYD has announced a "safety backstop" service for vehicles equipped with its "God's Eye" intelligent driving assistance system, covering urban navigation and smart parking scenarios. The service applies to both new and existing owners of God's Eye A and B versions and is valid for one year from the vehicle delivery date. In the event of a traffic accident caused by the driver assistance system, BYD will fully compensate for all legally liable economic losses incurred by the vehicle owner, including repair costs, third-party property damage, and personal injury losses. The coverage excludes amounts paid due to user violations of laws or regulations, or additional payments made for purposes such as settlement or reconciliation. The service is provided free of charge, with no cap on compensation, and payouts are made directly by the manufacturer without affecting the user’s insurance premium in the following year. Previously, BYD had already launched the safety backstop for smart parking scenarios on July 9, 2023, and expanded the coverage to include urban navigation functionality on May 28, 2024.
