Due to a strategic realignment, Alfa Romeo’s all-new Giulia and Stelvio will undergo comprehensive redesigns and their launches will be delayed until 2028. This decision follows a sharp decline in U.S. sales—only 5,652 units sold last year, down 36% year-over-year—prompting CEO Santo Ficili to announce the brand’s abandonment of its pure-electric roadmap in favor of offering multiple powertrain options, including internal combustion engines, plug-in hybrids, and even range-extended variants. The new models will be built on Stellantis’ STLA Large platform and may feature the same 3.0L Hurricane inline-six engine used in the Dodge Charger. In Europe, both all-electric and plug-in hybrid versions are expected, with a range-extender option also retained. Current-generation Giulia and Stelvio models will remain on sale until the end of 2027, with further details to be unveiled at Stellantis’ upcoming Capital Markets Day.
