Jeep has finally addressed the Wrangler’s most concerning safety issue—its high risk of rollover. Due to its high center of gravity, narrow track width, and boxy body design, older Wrangler models had a rollover probability as high as 26.7% in NHTSA tests. However, in the latest IIHS testing, the 2026 Wrangler remained upright during the driver-side small overlap front crash test, with no rollover occurring. This improvement is attributed to a new frame rail structure introduced in Wrangler and Gladiator models produced after October 2025. Despite this advancement, the vehicle still poses a higher risk of injury to the front passenger’s right foot and lower leg, earning only an “Acceptable” rating and falling short of the IIHS Top Safety Pick award. Nevertheless, this marks significant progress compared to the 2022 test results, which saw severe rollovers and a “Marginal” rating.
