On January 23, the new-generation Robotaxi model R2—co-developed by GAC Aion and DiDi Autonomous Driving—officially entered mass production and was delivered at GAC Aion’s manufacturing facility. Designed specifically for commercial operations, the R2 focuses on three core objectives: "driverless operation, mass production, and commercialization," achieving breakthroughs in technology, safety, user experience, and operational efficiency. The vehicle is equipped with 33 high-precision sensors and the industry’s first mass-produced tri-domain integrated computing platform, delivering over 2,000 TOPS of computing power while reducing costs by 74%. It meets both Chinese and European five-star safety standards and features a full-chain redundant safety system. Inside the cabin, the R2 includes a front bumper interactive display, a 17.3-inch ceiling-mounted entertainment screen, intelligent voice-controlled vehicle functions, an optimized rear seating space, and a standard UV disinfection system. Built upon DiDi’s latest L4 full-stack autonomous driving solution and smart cockpit design, the R2 has been efficiently brought to market by GAC Aion, marking a critical step forward in the commercialization of Robotaxis.
