smart has officially announced that the all-new smart #2 prototype concept car will make its global debut at the Beijing Auto Show in April. Designed by the Mercedes-Benz design team and built on smart’s self-developed, ultra-compact all-electric ECA architecture, the vehicle features a two-door, two-seater layout and is positioned as a premium micro electric vehicle. The model has now entered its final development phase, with production planned in China and market launch scheduled for late 2026 in China, Europe, and select overseas markets. Tong Xiangbei, Global CEO of smart, stated that developing a high-quality micro car is more challenging than creating larger vehicles, and expressed anticipation for positive user reception upon its release. As the spiritual successor to the iconic smart Fortwo, the #2 continues the brand’s core philosophy of being “compact, fuel-efficient, and easy to park,” positioning it as a promising new choice for urban mobility.
