As of January 2025, Beijing had over 1.3 million new energy vehicles (NEVs) in operation, with NEVs and vehicles meeting China’s National V emission standards or higher accounting for more than 80% of the total vehicle fleet. To promote green transportation, Beijing has implemented a policy encouraging the retirement and replacement of older trucks and medium-to-large buses that meet National IV emission standards or lower. This initiative has already led to the phasing out and transfer of over 10,000 outdated passenger and freight vehicles. Additionally, 500 new energy buses have been registered, and all newly added or replaced conventional taxis, light-duty postal vehicles, and sanitation vehicles are now powered by new energy. In terms of infrastructure, the city has built 1,044 EV ultra-fast charging stations and added 11,263 new charging ports in 2025, continuously enhancing its charging network.
