Hesai Technology, a Chinese LiDAR company, is leading globally in both patent portfolio and shipment volume. According to data from consulting firm KnowMade, by the end of 2025, Hesai held the top position in the global LiDAR industry with 2,071 granted patents and patent applications, achieving a comprehensive patent strength index of 2,549. The company ranks among the top three globally—and first in China—in terms of technological influence. Its patents span core technologies including VCSEL emitters, SPAD/SiPM receivers, 1550nm systems, MEMS, metasurfaces, and AI, establishing a robust technological moat. In terms of deliveries, Hesai shipped over 1.6 million units in 2025—approximately 1.4 million for ADAS applications and more than 200,000 for robotics. In November 2025, it became the world’s first LiDAR manufacturer to surpass 2 million cumulative units shipped.
