Multi-Department Reforms Boost Used Car Transactions, with Over 41 Million Transfers Registered by 2025

The Ministry of Public Security, in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce and other relevant departments, has continuously advanced reform measures—such as facilitating inter-regional vehicle transaction registration—significantly enhancing the circulation efficiency of the used car market. In 2025, traffic management authorities nationwide processed a total of 41.11 million motor vehicle transfer registrations, of which 38.41 million were for automobiles, accounting for 93.44%. Since 2020, the volume of used car transactions and registrations has exceeded that of new vehicle registrations for six consecutive years, underscoring the growing importance of the used car segment in the automotive market.
