GAC Honda recently successfully completed the industry's first 1-million-kilometer vehicle 24-hour endurance challenge. The test car was a sixth-generation Accord, manufactured domestically in 1999, with an odometer reading of 978,294 kilometers. The vehicle underwent only routine maintenance and replacement of wear-and-tear parts, with no structural modifications made. Over the 24-hour period, it covered a total distance of 2,181 kilometers, reaching a top speed of 145 km/h and achieving an average fuel consumption of 8.09 L/100 km, all without any loss of power or mechanical failures. Post-test inspections revealed that the VTEC engine showed no carbon buildup or oil burning, the chassis structure remained intact, the double-wishbone suspension and shock absorbers were in good condition, and the electronic control systems operated stably throughout. GAC Honda stated that this challenge demonstrated the exceptional reliability and durability of the sixth-generation Accord.
