Pure electric sedans priced around RMB 200,000 now commonly feature dual-motor setups, with total system outputs easily exceeding 400 kW—surpassing even high-end million-dollar gasoline-powered performance vehicles like the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT (485 kW, priced over RMB 2.5 million). The BYD Tang L stunned the market with a staggering total output of 810 kW and a starting price of just RMB 289,800. The Xiaomi YU7 GT delivers 738 kW (1,003 horsepower) from its dual motors and is expected to be priced under RMB 400,000. Meanwhile, the Lynk & Co Z10 AWD variant, priced at RMB 229,800, offers a competitive combination of 440 kW total power and a large 95 kWh battery pack, highlighting exceptional value for money. Notably, single-motor configurations with 300 kW can no longer break into the top ten, and even premium models like the BMW i7 M70L have been comprehensively outperformed by new Chinese EV brands. In response, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) recently proposed regulations requiring all mass-produced vehicles to achieve a default 0–100 km/h acceleration time of no less than 5 seconds, emphasizing that high performance must be matched with adequate safety and handling capabilities to avoid driving risks associated with “cheap horsepower.”
