Ford recently unveiled engineering details of its new scalable electric vehicle platform, aiming to launch a midsize electric pickup truck priced around $30,000. The vehicle features a 15% improvement in aerodynamic performance over competitors, utilizes a 48-volt electrical architecture and prismatic lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, and incorporates large integrated castings to reduce part count and shorten assembly time. Despite the platform’s demonstrated cost-control and efficiency advantages, Ford’s stock dipped slightly by 0.3% in early trading on the day the announcement was made.
