The iconic Soviet-era car brand Volga, dormant for over a decade, is making a comeback with the support of a Chinese automaker. According to IT Home, Volga has partnered with Changan Automobile to produce vehicles in China and assemble them in Russia. The brand recently launched its Russian-language official website and released new teaser images. The first model will be an SUV, carrying forward the design of the X5 Plus unveiled in 2024, featuring a large front grille, squared-off wheel arches, and taillights reminiscent of the Audi Q8. Inside, it sports a flat-bottom steering wheel, digital instrument cluster, and a large central infotainment screen—aligning with current mainstream trends. Previously, Volga had planned to launch three models by the end of 2024, including two crossovers and one sedan, but failed to meet that timeline. This relaunch marks the official return of a brand that once symbolized the Soviet era.
