The U.S. luxury car market faces mounting pressure heading into 2026, as BMW and Audi face lawsuits from dealerships. A BMW dealer in New York accused BMW North America of withholding hundreds of thousands of dollars, citing delays in store renovations, and challenged the automaker’s vehicle allocation practices as unfair. Meanwhile, an Audi dealer alleged that Audi of America’s rebate program discriminates against certain regions, violating New York state law. Both automakers deny the allegations. In terms of sales, BMW’s U.S. deliveries remained largely flat in 2025, while Audi has seen two consecutive years of decline, with 2026 sales projected to hit a 12-year low. Compounded by rising vehicle prices, economic uncertainty, and tariff pressures, the luxury segment is struggling to sustain growth. Dealers are also grappling with customer attrition in after-sales services, as dissatisfied owners increasingly turn to independent repair shops. Industry experts recommend leveraging digital tools to enhance service experiences and rebuild customer loyalty.
