Recently, Florida resident Madeline Grace posted a complaint on TikTok about her experience at the Delray Toyota Service Center, where she went to redeem the complimentary oil change included with her new car purchase during the first year. Instead of a straightforward service, she was met with a series of upsell recommendations. A technician claimed her tire had a nail and needed replacement—refusing to repair it—and also advised her to pay for new windshield wipers and an AC cabin filter. After declining these suggestions, Grace drove to a nearby tire shop, where staff inspected the tire and confirmed it was undamaged. They fixed the issue for free and even showed her how to buy replacement parts online at a fraction of the cost—prompting numerous commenters to share similar experiences. “You can get a cabin filter on Amazon for $12,” one user noted. Many viewers accused dealerships of using “free maintenance” offers as bait to push unnecessary services, while others praised independent repair shops as more affordable and trustworthy. Motor1 has reached out to both Grace and the dealership for comment but has not yet received a response.
