Despite facing high U.S. tariffs and intensifying competition from Chinese automakers, Toyota reported global sales of 822,577 vehicles in January, up 4.7% year-over-year—marking its second consecutive month of growth. Sales rose 11.5% in Europe to 104,727 units, 8.1% in the U.S. to 176,853 units, and 6.6% in China to 145,464 units. However, domestic sales in Japan declined 2.7% to 123,065 units. Meanwhile, global production fell 6.0% year-over-year to 735,097 units, primarily due to the model transition of the RAV4. Data shows that Toyota maintained its position as the world’s top-selling automaker in 2025 with 11.3 million vehicles sold, securing its sixth consecutive annual title and further widening its lead. Against a backdrop of widespread industry pressures, Toyota has demonstrated strong resilience, leveraging its economies of scale and robust supply chain.
