Ralph Gilles, Chief Design Officer at Stellantis, stated that an increasing number of consumers are now “demanding sedans,” suggesting the SUV boom “has passed.” In an interview with Car Design News, he admitted to feeling fatigued by SUVs and noted that while affordable sedan options remain limited, the U.S. market still offers several luxury sedans, such as the Dodge Charger and Alfa Romeo Giulia. Additionally, an Escalent survey revealed that 51% of teenage respondents hope to drive a sedan in the future—significantly higher than those preferring SUVs (31%) or pickup trucks (14%). Analysts suggest this generation of young people, having grown up in SUV-dominated households, is seeking to express individuality through sedans. Automotive media outlet Motor1 expressed hope that this emerging trend will lead to more affordable sedan offerings.
