Uber and NVIDIA announced an expanded partnership in autonomous driving, aiming to launch fully driverless vehicles by 2027. The companies will collaborate with automotive manufacturing partners to initially deploy vehicles equipped with NVIDIA’s Alpamayo AI model in Los Angeles and San Francisco in the first half of 2025. The Alpamayo model is specifically designed to handle complex driving scenarios. In the initial phase, data-collection vehicles will be used to train Alpamayo, followed by a testing phase with human drivers, ultimately leading to full autonomy. By 2028, the service is expected to expand to 28 cities across Europe, Australia, Asia, and North America. Following the announcement, Uber’s stock rose by 5.1%.
