Two Huawei-backed smart car camps are accelerating toward direct competition. On March 17, Qijing Auto—a joint venture between Huawei’s Intelligent Automotive Solution BU (IAS BU) and GAC Group—unveiled its first shooting brake model, the GT7, and opened reservations, with an expected price of around RMB 300,000. Meanwhile, Shangjie, a brand under Huawei’s Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA), recently launched its own shooting brake model, the Z7T. With both models targeting nearly identical market segments, the rivalry between “Jie” (as in HIMA brands) and “Jing” (Qijing) has officially escalated into head-to-head competition. The Qijing GT7 comes standard across all trims with Huawei’s Qiankun ADS intelligent driving system, and higher-end variants are pre-equipped with hardware capable of supporting Level 3 autonomous driving, positioning the vehicle as an “AI-era intelligent mobility companion.” According to Qijing’s roadmap, the brand will focus on the RMB 300,000 price segment, with its second model—an mid-to-large SUV—scheduled to debut in 2026, likely setting up another showdown with HIMA’s “Jie”-series models like the Aito series. Although the RMB 300,000–350,000 segment saw an overall sales decline last year, new government subsidy policies introduced early this year have already sparked a recovery in new energy vehicle sales.
