Polestar recently reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to a fully electric strategy. CEO Michael Lohschler stated that despite the slowing growth of the pure-electric vehicle market, the company will not launch hybrid or internal combustion engine models. He noted that Polestar customers, with an average age of around 45, generally embrace environmental values and trust science, making them unwilling to accept any shift toward gasoline-powered vehicles. Zero-emission mobility is essential for the future, and electrification remains the only viable path forward. On the product front, Polestar will launch the Polestar 5 GT and the Polestar 4 estate version this year, refresh the Polestar 2 in 2027, and introduce a compact SUV—the Polestar 7—in the following year. These models are expected to cover approximately 57% of the premium EV segments, though the brand has no plans to enter lower-priced market segments. Sustainability, performance, and design are identified as the brand’s three core pillars. Polestar emphasizes transparency in carbon emissions, gender pay equity, and material traceability, highlighting these as key differentiators that set it apart from other automakers.
