Volkswagen has recently unveiled the ID. Cross, its new compact all-electric SUV, in a near-production form. The vehicle is scheduled to launch in Europe in autumn 2026, with a starting price of approximately €28,000 (around $32,400). Positioned as a B-segment SUV, the ID. Cross is similar in size to the combustion-engine T-Cross but is built on Volkswagen’s MEB+ electric platform, offering more spacious interior room and a trunk capacity of 16.8 cubic feet, plus an additional 0.8 cubic feet in a front trunk. Inside, the cabin features a 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster—complete with a retro Golf-inspired display theme—and a 12.9-inch central infotainment screen. Powertrain options include three electric motor variants delivering between 114 and 208 horsepower, paired with either a 37 kWh LFP battery (offering 196 miles of range) or a 52 kWh NMC lithium-ion battery (providing up to 271 miles of range). Both battery options support fast charging at speeds up to 105 kW. The ID. Cross will be available in three trim levels: Trend, Life, and Style, and will come equipped with Volkswagen’s next-generation “Connected Travel Assist” driver assistance system. Currently, there are no plans to introduce the model in the U.S. market.
