Since the launch of the C8 Corvette in 2019, Chevrolet has consistently made it clear that it would not offer a manual transmission version. Recently, during the Corvette Grand Sport preview event held alongside the 12 Hours of Sebring endurance race, Corvette Chief Engineer Tony Roma reiterated: "We currently have no plans whatsoever for a manual transmission." He praised the current eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission for making the C8 "faster and better," and stated that the manual-transmission Corvette displayed by Tremec at last year's SEMA Show was "not an official product"—adding that he even wished it had never been shown. Vehicle engineer Josh Holder also noted that manual transmissions accounted for an extremely small share of C7 sales toward the end of its production run, saying, "The market voted with its wallet." With automatic transmissions now offering quicker shifts, greater efficiency, and broader consumer appeal, Chevrolet has chosen to focus on automatics to meet mainstream demand.
