On March 24, Dongfeng Motor announced that its first mass-production project for an EMB (Electro-Mechanical Braking) system has successfully completed winter calibration and acceptance testing. Co-developed by Dongfeng’s R&D General Institute and Yipai Technology, the system passed critical tests under extreme conditions of minus 30°C, including braking performance on low-friction surfaces, low-temperature reliability, and consistent braking on icy and snowy roads. Its NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) and braking smoothness have met mature engineering standards. Unlike conventional braking systems, the EMB eliminates hydraulic lines and brake fluid, instead using an electronic control unit to directly drive electric motors. This design delivers faster response times than mainstream One-box solutions and features a triple-redundancy safety mechanism: even if both the primary and secondary controllers fail, front-wheel braking can still be activated via the brake light switch signal. To date, Dongfeng has filed more than 20 patents related to EMB technology, placing its technical maturity among the industry leaders. The company plans to debut the system in its vehicles in the third quarter of 2026.
