On March 26, the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) formally launched Investigation No. 337-TA-1493 concerning certain in-vehicle infotainment systems, components thereof, and downstream products incorporating the same. The investigation was initiated on February 24, 2026, by Zync Inc., a California-based company, which alleged that the respondents misappropriated its trade secrets and interfered with its prospective economic advantage, thereby violating Section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930. Zync requested the ITC to issue a limited exclusion order and cease-and-desist orders. Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (BMW Group) of Germany and its North American subsidiary, BMW of North America, LLC, were named as respondents. The ITC will set a target date for completing the investigation within 45 days of institution. Absent disapproval by the U.S. Trade Representative on policy grounds, any remedial orders issued will become final and effective 60 days after issuance.
