On March 29, the Legal Department of Hongqi Auto issued a statement asserting that a recently circulated online video showing the Hongqi S9 "moose test"失控 (loss of control) involved malicious manipulation and did not constitute a professional test conducted according to national standards. The exaggerated fishtailing of the S9 seen in the video—compared against models such as the BMW 5 Series and Audi A6L—was deliberately induced by human interference. Hongqi emphasized that, certified by the China Automotive Technology & Research Center, the S9 achieved a moose test result of 84.1 km/h, while the S9T reached 83.3 km/h, placing both among the top performers in the mid-to-large luxury sedan segment. The company has preserved evidence and initiated legal action against the implicated MCN agency "Xiao Mo Interactive Entertainment" and its affiliated accounts, vowing to firmly combat acts of commercial defamation.
