According to people familiar with the matter cited by Bloomberg, BYD has raised its 2026 vehicle export target to 1.5 million units, up approximately 15% from the 1.3 million units set in January this year. This move aims to offset slowing domestic sales and drive growth through overseas markets. At a recent analyst briefing, BYD’s management expressed confidence in achieving the new target. The company’s overseas sales already surpassed 1 million units in 2024. To circumvent trade barriers, BYD is accelerating the construction of production facilities in Brazil, Hungary, and Southeast Asia. Meanwhile, the company is advancing battery technology upgrades, with its next-generation Blade Battery paired with an ultra-fast charging system capable of reaching 70% charge in just five minutes. BYD plans to deploy these fast-charging stations on a large scale overseas starting in 2027.
