The world's first roadable, modular flying car was unveiled at this year's China International Consumer Products Expo. Featuring a split-body design, the vehicle consists of a ground module—a 6×6 all-wheel-drive off-road car—and an aerial module—an electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft capable of carrying two passengers. The two modules can automatically dock and separate. The eVTOL is controlled via a single joystick, offers a range of 20 kilometers, and can autonomously load and unload in under five minutes, folding compactly enough to fit into the car’s trunk. Developed by XPeng AeroHT after 12 years of R&D and an investment of approximately $600 million, the product has undergone seven iterations of flight testing and is scheduled to begin mass production and deliveries in the second half of this year.
