Stellantis Group plans to invest €100 million to retool its Poissy vehicle assembly plant near Paris, extending its operations until the end of 2028. The facility currently produces the Opel Mokka and compact SUVs under the DS brand. Beyond 2028, the site will pivot toward automotive component manufacturing, industrial recycling, and 3D printing of customized vehicles. The company stated it has already begun collaborating with labor unions on the transition plan and pledged to retain at least 1,000 blue-collar jobs locally through 2030 without resorting to layoffs. The Poissy plant currently employs approximately 1,925 people, including around 1,580 frontline production workers. Previously, in November 2023, Stellantis invested €20 million to modernize the plant’s stamping shop. Additionally, Stellantis will relocate the dedicated engine assembly line for aftermarket parts from its Vesoul plant in eastern France to Poissy, affecting 190 employees. The Vesoul facility continues normal hiring activities, and 60 of its permanent contract employees will be offered internal transfers within the group. This move forms part of Stellantis’ broader strategy to optimize its European manufacturing footprint and enhance operational efficiency. The group operates 12 production sites in France and dozens more across other parts of Europe, some of which currently run below capacity. Stellantis is actively seeking European manufacturing partners to reduce production costs, improve capacity utilization, and avoid the social and political fallout associated with outright plant closures.
