A prototype of a canceled three-row all-electric Ford SUV has recently surfaced. The vehicle’s development was terminated by the company in 2024 and is now being used as a research vehicle to support the development of Ford’s next-generation electric models. A Ford spokesperson confirmed that the vehicle is a developmental prototype with a design language not shared by any current production model in Ford’s lineup. The prototype emphasizes aerodynamic efficiency, featuring a rounded front fascia, a steeply raked windshield, and a long, flowing roofline that tapers downward for a sleek overall profile. It incorporates minimalist door handles and aerodynamically optimized wheels, while its nearly vertical rear end echoes the styling of the Mustang Mach-E. Initially, Ford positioned the project as a seven-seat “bullet train,” with an all-electric range exceeding 563 kilometers (350 miles) and support for high-power DC fast charging—capable of adding approximately 161 kilometers (100 miles) of range in about six minutes when starting from a low state of charge. The original plan also included a range-extended version with a combined range of up to 885 kilometers (550 miles). Although Ford has scaled back its broader EV strategy, it continues to advance several more affordable electric models, including an electric pickup truck priced around $30,000.
