Audi has decided to discontinue its entry-level A1 hatchback and compact crossover Q2. Production of the Q2 ended in April 2024 at Audi’s Ingolstadt plant in Germany. Since its launch in 2016, the Q2 has sold a total of 887,231 units, with a starting price of €29,000. Production of the A1 has also been gradually phased out at the Martorell plant in Spain. First introduced in 2010 and spanning two generations, the A1 has achieved cumulative sales of 1,389,658 units. The current model starts at €22,950 and is offered in Sportback and Allstreet variants. Following the discontinuation of these two models, their market positions will be filled by the upcoming A2 e-tron, set to debut in autumn 2024. Built on the MEB+ platform—shared with the ID.3 Neo—the A2 e-tron is positioned as an all-electric hatchback for the mainstream market. It will be available with either a 58 kWh or a 79 kWh battery pack, delivering a maximum WLTP range of up to 630 kilometers. Additionally, Audi plans to begin production of a new all-electric sports car at its Böllinger Höfe facility in 2027. This vehicle will be the production version of the Concept C, featuring a two-seater layout, a retractable hardtop, a minimalist interior, and an entirely new design language. Positioned similarly to the Porsche 718 Boxster and Cayman, it is widely regarded as the electric successor to the Audi TT.
