On November 6, the official WeChat account of BYD's News Anti-Counterfeiting Office issued a notice urging car owners to be on alert against scams involving fake "Vehicle Recall Notices" impersonating BYD. Recently, criminals have been forging "Vehicle Recall Notices" bearing the logo of BYD Company Limited and spreading them through unknown phone calls, text messages, links and QR codes. The document claims that the vehicle brake pedal limit pad has batch-related abnormalities, falsely uses the name of the State Administration for Market Regulation, and pressures car owners with tactics such as "contact us within 2 hours to handle the matter" and "warranty will be voided if overdue," inducing them to click on websites, scan QR codes, or provide bank card numbers, verification codes and make transfers. Some car owners have reported receiving this forged document. BYD Company Limited stated that official recall information is notified to relevant car owners by BYD authorized dealers through registered mail, phone calls, text messages and other means. Car owners can call the customer service hotline, or visit the website of the Recall Center of the State Administration for Market Regulation or follow its WeChat official account to learn about recall details. BYD stated that official recalls will not ask for users' bank card numbers, passwords or verification codes, nor require transfers or remittances; recalls are free services and carry no additional conditions such as time-limited handling or warranty cancellation for overdue responses. BYD advises car owners not to click, scan or call back upon receiving suspicious messages, and to verify through official channels. If they have already clicked or leaked information, they should contact their bank to report the loss, change passwords and call 110 to report to the police.
