On the evening of November 6, SAIC General Motors officially issued a statement. The statement said that recently, lawbreakers have falsely used the name of "SAIC General Motors" to send fraudulent text messages to owners of Cadillac, Buick, and Chevrolet brand vehicles, falsely claiming that the vehicles are involved in an airbag recall, threatening that failure to complete the recall on time will result in cancellation of warranty services, passing off unknown links as the official SAIC General Motors website address, and inducing vehicle owners to provide personal information and complete so-called recall procedures. SAIC General Motors stated in the statement that the company has never issued the above-mentioned text messages or links, nor has it entrusted any third party to send the above-mentioned recall information to vehicle owners via text messages, multimedia messages, or social platforms; the product recalls mentioned in the fraudulent text messages are entirely fabricated; evidence of the infringement has been collected, and legal liability will be pursued against the relevant parties, and vehicle owners are reminded not to click on suspicious links, reply to relevant information, or provide personal and vehicle information to unknown sources. Previously, BYD, AITO, BMW China, Volkswagen China, Li Auto, and others have all issued statements reminding vehicle owners to be vigilant against fraudulent recall text messages sent under assumed names, not to click on suspicious links, and not to reply to relevant text messages.
