On November 2, Han Xu, founder and CEO of WeRide, gave an exclusive interview. He stated that WeRide is already equipped to expand its Robotaxi fleet and hopes that within four to five years, people will be able to take a Robotaxi from Guangzhou directly to Hong Kong. Han Xu noted that China is advancing the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, which includes three major cities: Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong. He believes this vision is likely to be realized within five years. At present, the most critical issue remains regulation, which must be handled prudently to convince regulators that autonomous driving can ensure the safety of passengers and residents in communities along the routes. Speaking about the large-scale operation of Robotaxis, Han Xu said WeRide is basically ready in terms of technology, hardware, software, and industrial ecosystem, and that industry players and regulators need to work together to explore more complete management mechanisms. WeRide's autonomous driving business has covered 13 countries and more than 60 cities, with a total of approximately 3,600 L4 autonomous driving vehicles, including more than 1,800 Robotaxis.
