In March 2024, the Tesla Model Y achieved global sales exceeding 56,000 units, marking its third consecutive year as the world’s best-selling electric vehicle (EV), with cumulative deliveries surpassing 4 million units. In China, the Model Y topped the passenger vehicle sales chart for the month with over 56,000 units sold, representing a 47% month-over-month increase. Tesla’s Gigafactory Shanghai delivered 85,600 EVs in March, up 8.7% year-over-year, and totaled 213,000 deliveries in the first quarter of 2024, a 23.5% year-over-year increase. The factory exported more than 29,000 vehicles in March alone. As a flagship model representing Chinese-made EVs going global, the Model Y has been launched across multiple Asia-Pacific markets, sparking strong demand. In Australia, it ranked as the top-selling all-electric vehicle in March; in Taiwan, China, it claimed the title of best-selling single model; and in South Korea, March sales exceeded 11,000 units, setting a new record for Tesla in the local market. In Europe, Tesla saw its new vehicle registrations in France surge by 203% year-over-year in March, with the Model Y firmly holding the No. 1 spot among EVs in the country. All Tesla models are engineered to meet stringent global safety standards, and the S3XY lineup has earned “5-star safety” ratings from multiple international authoritative testing organizations. Between 2022 and 2025, Tesla rolled out 58 over-the-air (OTA) software updates, enhancing more than 100 features. As of March 2026, Tesla had built and opened over 2,500 Supercharger stations and more than 12,000 Superchargers across mainland China. Globally, Tesla’s energy storage deployments reached 8.8 gigawatt-hours (GWh) by that time, and in Q1 2026, its Supercharger network delivered 1.8 terawatt-hours (TWh) of electricity—up 22% year-over-year.
